So...you have made this big decision for the rest of your life-to commit yourself to another person in marriage.

Soon you will be looking for caterers, trying on gowns, viewing invitations. But first you must address certain issues the Big 4 W's.

When is the wedding,
What is the style of your wedding,
Where is the wedding being held and,
Whom will you ask to help you plan this fabulous celebration.

Let's talk about when is the wedding. The most popular months for weddings are May to October, with June and September at the top, and often rates during those peak wedding seasons are often very high.

So you may want to consider your wedding between November and April, you might be able to find more availability and lower rates. You can also think about a planned destination wedding on a tropical island, but not during the winter months you will likely find rates higher especially during the December, you could be competing with company parties and many other guests.

For your wedding style and color, you may want to consider certain times of the year. If you have pastel wedding complete with tulips and daffodils, you may want to look at a spring. If you want to dress your bridesmaids in rich tones and carry burgundy mums, autumn seems to be the most appropriate time. Stay tune for Part 2...

Bridal tip:

Your biggest expense might be food, this depends on the size of your guest list. So, to cut cost, plan your wedding for a time of the day when you won't have to serve a full meal or have a buffet style instead of hiring a wait staff. Talk to your caterer about ways to economize.

St. Lucia-A Cultural Highs & Wonders-1

Saint Lucia is the perfect destination for today's traveler who is interested in new and involving experiences, getting to know the land, getting to meet the local folks. Let me point out just a handful of ways to enjoy and discover the Lucian colorful heritage.

Useful Information:

Travelers from North America visiting St. Lucia have a number of air service options to the two major airports. Eight airlines operate flights from eight North American gateways, including from Canada and Puerto Rico.

Entry Requirements: All visitors including US citizens will required to present a valid passport traveling to Saint Lucia. Visas are not required if the visitor is a citizen of the US or certain Commonwealth countries.

Currency: The currency of Saint Lucia is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar which has a US dollar exchange of US$1 to EC$2.70. (Subject to change) US dollars are widely accepted on the island.

Vaccination: Immunization is not required, but check with your own doctor for medical advise. Drinking water is safe from the tap and bottled mineral/distilled water is also available.

St. Lucia Annual Jazz-May:

For 10 days each May is when Saint Lucia Jazz Festival welcomes renowned international musicians who perform at Pigeon Island National Park and other island venues. Since its inception in the early 90s St. Lucia Jazz has grown and is now regarded as the premiere jazz event of the Caribbean. The festival is a series of concerts that bring together elements of jazz rhythm and blues, pop and world music.

Multiple shows embrace straight-ahead jazz and new age jazz, with acts originating from the United States, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe. Past performances have included those of George Benson and Wynton Marsalis, to name only couple.

Carnival in July:

Saint Lucia's summer Carnival is one the island's major festivals. Carnival lovers from around the Caribbean and North America gather in St. Lucia during the second week of July. Carnival season launches in June when the bands camps are formed and members begin to build their costumes, steel bands practice in the streets and calypso tents throughout the island compete through a series of performances by local calypso and soca artist, much like Trinidad & Tobago.

In July when Carnival is in full swing there are competitions for beauty queens as well as for the King of Soca ad Calypso; and the mas bands compete for the coveted title "band of the year". Right after the competitions (Monday morning 4:00 am) everyone heads out to the streets for the ultimate street party and Jouvert (pre-dawn "jump up")

Creole Heritage Month-October:

Creole Heritage Month includes the celebration of International Creole Day or Jounen Kweyol Entenasyonnal. Brazil-the 5th largest country in the world-has grown into a powerhouse state...travelers from all over the globe are now beginning to realize that the diversity of its vacation options are as vast as its far-flung borders, with unforgettable leisure experiences. For beach lovers there's is no treasured area that the massive coastline that stretches over 4,000 miles with endless array of watersports, from world-class sport fishing and boating, to surfing, diving, sailing, cruising and a whole lot more.

Brazil incredible collection of national parks-60 in all-offers every kind of adventure pursuit, from rock-climbing, rappelling, and hiking to trekking, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding and so much more.

It doesn't matter where you go in Brazil-whether its the fabulous carnival or the famous beaches in Rio, the World Class Heritage site-you will be enchanted by the people and culture of this country-a diverse and eclectic culture.

And don't overlook the diversity of its own indigenous peoples, who has more than 188 languages today with as many as 155,000 natives speakers.

Brazilian food also developed from these diverse cultures spreading out over with different regions featuring their own cuisine. Portuguese, Germans, Arabs, Japanese and Italians migrated to the country throughout history, adding to Brazilian cuisine in unique and interesting ways. Getting around in Brazil: Rental cars are available for tourists with or without a driver at the main airports and in the city centers. There are also a large number of taxis in most cities. Regular taxis with a meter can be hailed from the streets. Sound like New York City. The bus is the most popular form of transportation for traveling between states.

Climate: Spring (Sept-Dec), Summer (Dec-Mar), Autumn (Mar-Jun) and good old Winter (Jun-Sept). The country is dominated by a tropical climate, some areas of the North have summer almost year-round. The South has a different climate pattern, where winters can sometimes be severe, in the months of June and July, temperatures can drop very low.

Entry Documents: Visas can be located form your local consulate office. Tourist visas can be renewed for a period of 180 days per year. Touch down in Costa Rica for most travelers is San Jose the capital of business and pleasure. San Jose offers travelers first class hotels and first-rate guesthouses, sophisticated and informal restaurants, appealing artisan boutiques and colorful markets and interesting musuems, from the Jade Museum-with the largest collection of pre-Columbian jade in the world-to the museum of Pre-Columbian Gold with its glittering 1,800 piece of collection. To really enjoy Costa Rica...there are a few valuable tips on safety you definitely will need.

If you are travelling to an area far from your hotel. You must take your passport. If you only traveling in range of your hotel, keep your documentation in a safe box and carry a copy of your passport with all relevant information. Use the safe box at the hotel you are staying for your valuables.
Do not leave your things unattended in public areas. (hotels lobby, airports, restaurants)
Ask for information at the desk of your hotel about the safest routes and transportation especially at night.
Exchange money currency "only" at banks and approved change offices. Bank transactions require original passport.
Use ATM located in public areas. "Do not allowed unsolicited help." Count your money and put it away before leaving the ATM.
If you need to check a map do so in public and secure areas or ask a police officer for help.

There are still a few things you need to know before all the fun begins. You need a valid passport to enter Costa Rica. USA, Canada and most European countries do not need a Visa. Arenal Volcano

One of the spectacular go to destinations is Arenal Volcano National Park. Often because of cloud cover, the spectacle of flowing lava is not always seen, but one can hear the sounds for miles around. On this corner of the country there are guided biking, birdwatching, kayaking, canopy tours, horseback riding, mountain biking, ATV excursion, canyoning and caving, windsurfing, kiteboarding and fishing on Lake Arenal.

Caribbean Costa Rica embraces some very special places. Tortuguero National Park offers some of the country's best wildlife viewing-monkeys, sloths, crocodiles and caiman-as well as more than 450 species of birds and a nesting population of green turtles that scramble up on the beaches to lay their eggs between July and November-prime time is late-August/early September.

The Big "What ifs" Questions When Cruising!

Have you ever wondered what would you do if your luggage doesn't show up at the airport or if you get sea sick on a cruise...what will you do? Have you ever thought about that...did just the thought of that happening freak you out or send chills down your back? Here are a few tips on the Big "What ifs" questions. What if your luggage doesn't show up at the airport? Unless you ever experience this, you will never understand how unsettling this can be. And if you travel often, sooner or later it will happen. You must always have that carry-on bags. You should carry on everything you will need to through dinnertime and possibly the next day, including bathing suits, camera, medications, a change of clothes and toiletries.

What if you get seasick on your cruise? I am sorry to tell you that travel agents are not doctors, so we cannot give medical advice. But you will be happy to learn that on your cruise there are motion sickness medication available in the gift shops or the infirmary. And always check with your own personal doctors for medical advice.

What if you miss your ship? The dreaded question. I think most first time cruiser can freak out...if this happens. Do you know people get left behind in ports all the time. It is your responsibility to be back on time or find your own way at your expense to the next port. You should always take identification (passport), credit cards or enough funds on shore to get you to the next port. If you are nervous about this happening, take shore excursions offered by the cruise line. If one of the ship's organized tours is late, staff will hold the ship until the tour gets back.

What if you forgot to keep extra cash to pay the tips? Cash is no longer always needed. Some cruise lines automatically charge the gratuities to the bill at the end of the cruise or you can always pay in advance.

What if the air reservation is booked incorrectly? If you are personally booking your own flight...you need to factor in possible flight and custom delays, traffic and other glitches that might keep you from getting to the port on time. Always plan to arrive early or by noon at the latest on embarkation day. Getting to the port a day before is even better...plan to stay over night at a hotel. You can always have your travel agent assist you with all your flight and cruise plans to avoid your reservation booking incorrectly.

I hope I am able to elevate some of the worries that many first-time cruisers or seasoned cruisers may have. But that doesn't mean you can't have fun on your vacation...just plan for the unexpected and always have a "BIG SMILE" when you travel.

Helpful Tips To Make Traveling With Children Fun & Safe!

Welcome to My World...Travel...You Should See It! Today I am going to share a few tips on how to make traveling with your children fun. While traveling is fun, family vacations can be challenging and stressful. I hope this will reduce stress and increase your enjoyment on your family vacation.

Here are some excerpts advice from Anita Pagliasso, President of Ticket Travel.

Instead of listening to lots of "buy me this, buy me that" routines when you travel, tell kids how much you will give them for souvenirs at each destinations, and then they get to decide how to spend their money.
When traveling with children purchase postcards from your destinations, and let them write on the back about their thoughts and experiences. Punch a hole in the top corner and assemble them onto an expandable ring. You will have an enjoyable time reflecting back on past vacations experienced during childhood years.
When traveling with children, always carry a current photo of each child. This will prove invaluable if you accidentally get separated.
If you're in a crowded place or attraction, arrange for a meeting place in case you get separated.
When flying with small children, carry on a plastic drink cup with a lid and a straw. This is an effective way to avoid spills.
With older children, walkie-talkies can be invaluable for keeping track of everyone in busy tourist areas. Look for the ones with the widest range. Kids will have fun using them as well.
Parents taking children on extended trips should see their pediatrician well in advance to be sure their children get a pre-travel check-up and are up to date with all child-hood vaccinations.
Bring along plenty of your children favorite foods and snacks for long flights, as well as reading material, games and other activities they enjoy.
Children experience ear aches as a results in changes in air pressure during flights, especially during take-off and descent. Bring chewing gum and encourage them to yawn, chew and swallow. Children flying with even a mild cold should take a children's decongestant prior to take-off and landing.
Pack all important medications and those that might be needed during flight in a carry-on bag.
Make sure older children know the address and phone number where you're staying, and all other emergency information. Give younger children a card with the same information.
In hot climates make sure children wear hats and other protective clothing, apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30.

Always have a Travel Kit for Kids. Go to the Dollar store, they are great resources where you can find things like card games, coloring books, swim goggles and much more. Capital City: Port of Spain Major Towns: Port of Spain, San Fernando, Arima, Point Fortin and Chaguanas. Location: 7 miles off Venezuela, approx 3.5 hours from Miami and 4.5 hours from New York. Best time to travel: Anytime. Climate: Temperature range from 70 to 90 degrees and the rainy season is June to December. Currency: Trinidad & Tobago dollars, an approximate rate of $6TT to $1US. Official Language: English. Other languages are Hindi, French, Spanish and Chinese. International Airport: Piarco International Airport. Major Airlines: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Caribbean Airlines. Entry requirement: Valid passport.

Trinidad Dishes: Bake and Shark. A sandwich of deep-fried shark between slices of fried dough, topped with cold slaw, tartar sauce, spicy chutney and more.

Souse: Pig trotters or chicken feet, boiled and served cold in a broth of lime, cucumber, pepper and onions. Delicious!!!

Mango Chow: Local unripe fruit, cut up and mixed with lime juice, garlic, pepper and cilantro. It is mostly eaten on its own, but can be used along with food.
Much of Trinidad dishes is purely Trinidadian, such as Marconi pie which entails Marconi, milk, eggs and cheese served with stew chicken and red beans. Another hallmark of Trini dish is curry, which is flavor in just about in any meat, from duck, chicken, beef, goat. Other East Indian favorite dish is roti (flat bread pastry stuffed with curried meat and potatoes and more. Trinidad also has its share of fine dining with great restaurants serving up French, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Thai and Spanish cuisine all throughout Port of Spain.

An awesome sight especially on a moonlit night, hundreds of turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.

Why Should You Make a Budget? Most of us go about blindly in the world without any idea about finances and without any plan at all. Not a wise choice!

A budget is call a money plan and its the ultimate financial management tool. Without a plan we can drift without direction and end up in a financial disaster. If you have a spouse or live with someone, you should sit down together and figure out what your financial goals are for long term and short term. Every plan begins with the first step and that is making a realistic budget that both of you can live with.

Make reasonable allocations for food, clothing, shelter, utilities and insurance and set aside a reasonable amount for entertainment and the luxury item-e.g. travel. Savings should always come first before any spending. One pitfall we can all avoid is Impulse Spending. If you answer 'yes' to 2 or all the questions you are an impulse spender.

Does anyone in your family complain that you spend too much money?
Do you have more shoes and clothes in your closet than you could ever wear?
Do you own every gadget before it has time to collect a little dust on the retailer's shelf?
Do you buy things just because you saw them on display in a store?

This habit prevents you from 'saving' for the important things like a house, a new or use car, vacation or more importantly your retirement. Impulse spending will not only lead to financial disaster but can put a strain on your relationship the #1 problem within relationships, and so to overcome this problem you must learn to separate your needs from your wants. When you go shopping make a list and take only cash to pay for what you actually plan to buy. Leave the Credit Card at home.
